Congratulations to Team Leader Ryan and his team memeber, Josh and Connor for winning this months Uniform and Van competition – cash prize and crates of beer awarded last Friday after work.
We’ve continued our success in securing prestige scheme on the Greenwich Peninsula and have recently commenced landscaping work around the new Arora Hotel adjacent to the O2 Arena. The scheme includes over 150 new trees, 55 of which are semi-mature with 28 of these being 45cm+, over 4000 shrubs predominantly in 5 and 10 litre pots including a large amount of clipped hedging and topiary topped off with large areas of quality turf. Can’t wait to see it finished!
A frenetic end to a busy 4 weeks at this, our first, Millgate Homes site. Not only did we have to complete works to the front and rear of Plot 1, the show house, we also had to complete the fornt and rear of Plot 2, the frontage of Plot 3 and all the common areas and long entrance driveway, This was Ashley Clarke’s first job as a Team Leader and he excelled (though is now greyer!) but he was ably supported by his teams and by George Hut, who is newly appointed to the position of Project Manager. We have had exceptionally positive feedback from Millgate throughout the build and Managing Directior, David Simpson, called to personally thank the company, especially those on the gorunf, “for the excellent delivery of your first show house scheme for Millgate.” Well done everyone – from Peter, Contracts Director.
Goddards have just been awarded the Soft Landscape External Works Package around the new Arora Hotel Development adjacent to the O2, Greenwich Peninsula and this has to be installed within a challengingly short programme period. The scheme comprises of around 50 semi-mature trees measuring up to 50cm girth, extensive shrub planting and turf areas and will further strengthen our existing presence in this vibrant area.
Continuous staff training is important to the Goddards team, pre-Christmas all staff were involved in ROLO training for LISS/CSCS cards, Train the Trainer Manual Handling and given an introduction and training in our new RAMS procedure.
Skills and H&S Training adds to pre-Christmas activity at Goddards.
We are pleased to announce that our newly appointed Apprentice, Jamie, starts his NVQ 2 journey next week with Ian, a recently appointed Team Leader, starting his NVQ 3 on the same day.
We are pleased to congratulate Joanna Couglin who is the first member of our office staff to take, and successfully pass, her CSCS touch test. This will enable her to accompany Contracts Managers whist they are making visits to limited access Construction Sites as part of our ‘Insight Programme’ – showing the backroom team what we actually build out there!
Jo Coughlin, Goddards QA Manager, has just sailed through our re-registration of ISO 9001 with the SGS’s external assessor. The assessor commented that she deserved a Gold Star for achieving an exemplary standard – Well done Jo!
Goddards are pleased to announce that, in order to help facilitate our current expansion, Julian Atkins and William Goddard have both recently been promoted to the position of Landscape Supervisor. Congratulations to Julian and William, their combined 40 years experience at Goddards will be well utilised as they oversee the day to day running of a number of projects.
We are also pleased to announce the appointment of a new Team Leader – Ian Evans. Ian is new to Goddards but comes with in excess of 15 years of landscaping and construction industry experience and will be a valuable addition to the team.
Our current growth means we are also looking to appoint a number of apprentices shortly to develpo the team for future years of work.
It’s been a busy few months here at Goddards with a varied mixture of schemes completed on time, to budget and to an exceptional finish and these include:
Constructing large, mature gardens around a number of new build private residences on St George’s Hill Estate, Weybridge:
Construction of communal gardens around an exclusive, gated development to the South of Winchester; Incorporating semi-mature trees, clipped instant beech, Portuguese laurel hedging, mature shrub and herbaceous planting and extensive fine turf lawns with some properties also having outdoor terraces graced with fine Italian topiary and Mediterranean inspired her gardens.
A ground remodelling exercise near Hungerford with involved the relocation of 4000m3 of spoil to a new position 800m away, regrading, topsoiling and 3 hectares of wildflower seeding.
Landscape works to boulevards, front and rear gardens, public realm and community areas on a large, high quality housing development near Chichester:
We are very excited about the coming months and beyond, as we are in the fortunate position of having many highly prestigious contracts awarded to us, to increase the already healthy order book, extending into 2016.
Congratulations to Mike Johnson our Contracts Manager who has just received his 15 years service badge. Mike has been instrumental in the expansion and success of the Maintenance Division of the business over recent years and carries a great deal of knowledge and experience enabling the company to receive many awards.
