Ashley Clarke has been promoted to Contract Supervisor – a long-time employee who has risen through the ranks and who leads using his wealth of experience on our (mainly) London sites. In these locations we install gardens on rooftop podiums and high-level terraces which not only enhance public enjoyment of open spaces but also bring great benefit to the environment.
James Kerr has recently joined the company as Contract Supervisor from a well-respected competitor and directs our teams on site, liaising with site management and suppliers to ensure that we produce the best product with quality at its heart.
Brian Wong has joined the company as Administration Manager and is responsible for our Quality Assurance and Health and Safety systems, collating information for and submitting pre-qualification questionnaires and is our IT co-ordinator too!
Megan Smart has joined the company as Junior Office Administrator – this is her first office role since leaving full time education. She’s picking up new skills all the time and is always looking to take on more!
Our Knights Quarter site in Winchester, a Berkeley Homes (Southern) Development, has recently seen our team complete the planting on their Podium and some updates to their Romsey Road entrance – thank you to Dan, our Team Leader (pictured), and his team for all their hard work.
Our industry’s professional body, BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries), asked every associative member to pledge to have one trained Mental Health First Aider in every team by 2023.
We at Goddards (Landscape Contractors) Ltd are pleased to say we have fulfilled this pledge and our Gemma Straker has taken part in an approved EDP training course and is now a Certified Mental Health First Aider.
Gemma is ready to offer her newly acquired assist skills to work colleagues and will work towards changing the stigma that surrounds Mental Health.

Having identified a few areas where refresher training was required our Construction & Maintenance teams returned from the Christmas break and undertook 2 days training at CISTC (Crondall). They undertook, and passed, the following: Manual Handling Awareness Training Course, the Cat and Genny (detection and avoidance of services) Training Course and a bespoke Slinging and Lifting Course based around the safe offloading, moving and placement of large trees.
Positive feedback about the course, the tutors and venue too so, all in all, a great success.
Last Friday we headed to JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London for the British Association of Landscape Industries 2021 Award Ceremony where we were awarded the Principle Award for Roof Gardens/Living Wall Installations Commercial Roof Garden or Podium Landscaping Under £500K.
We would never have been able to do this without the amazing team that we have at Goddards (Landscape Contractors) Ltd, and our ever supportive supply chain and Quintain Limited , PRP LLP & John Sisk & Son Ltd
Now completed the new sales and marketing suite, and customer journey from phase 2 to phase 2.2 at the above project. With difficult deadlines to meet, the supervisor and team leader completed the soft landscaping to the highest standard meeting all Berkeley Homes requirements.
The sales and marketing suite and show gardens have a mix of evergreen and herbaceous stock, with a number of specimen plants creating the perfect balance to ensure the garden looks great all year round.
Credit was given to all the teams who have been a part of this new creative and exciting project.
A stunning 2.5 acre landscape situated on a 4th floor podium deck with spectacular panoramic views of the City; the iconic Wembley Arch as a backdrop; a uniquely challenging concept to extend the interior design and spatial concepts into outdoor “rooms”; a natural flow from space to space, with trees as way finders, their canopies of lighter foliage allowing light and views; planting that leads you effortlessly on a natural path, blending and merging each transition from garden to garden, seamlessly for home-growing, homeworking, pets and play.
“Peter and Goddards have excelled. A contractor we can trust – the primary factor on a project of this stature and complexity This reflects across the team; masterful, responsive and all equally vested in achieving a superior end result.” – Scott Young, Quintain [CLIENT]
“A very strong relationship with the Goddards team and all involved, an absolute necessity in a project of this nature and importance. Detailing was met on all elements of the soft landscaping, from the initial plant and tree selection to programme management and execution. Considerately planted and professionally finished – a first-class delivery of exemplary landscaping.” Angeli Ganoo-Fletcher, Director of Landscape, PRP [DESIGNER]
Once a large derelict turbine site on the edge of Farnborough airport, now transformed into a prestigious housing development with the help of high specification soft landscaping.
Designed, built, and installed planters for this prestigious development and important client in the heart of London. Access, height and covid all posed challenges, but the end result was highly successful.
Contracted to Laing O’Rourke, designed by Landscape Architect BBUK, and in association with lead architect AHMM, the 7,500 square foot rooftop garden is the largest roof terrace in London’s West End.
Accessed by residents, tenants, commercial, and retail units, with public areas offering panoramic views to most parts of the city.
Roof Garden Installations including Bespoke Planters & Furniture, Ecology items, Tree, Herbaceous & Shrub planting, Green Walls & Play Equipment. All requiring close co-ordination with other trades, in a very restricted central London site with strict access protocols.
In recognising high levels of professionalism, workmanship and client satisfaction the scheme received a coveted BALI award.
