The Company is determined not to get held up with potential import problems next year so is stocking up with very large trees in its holding nursery in Surrey. Having this facility allows the firm to be ahead of the game and insure availability and programme dates.
Despite all the challenges this has presented, the Company has continued to complete many prestigious contracts, including this one in NW London, all safely and within the guidelines. Many new contracts now in the wings so fingers crossed.
We are building some great teams here at Goddards and another successful sign of this is the in-house promotion of Ashley Clarke from Team Leader to Contract Supervisor – initially Ashley will be overseeing our works at Wembley Park which, as can be seen, are progressing well.
We are currently installing playing surfaces and landscaping around 3 schools, 2 in Hove and the other in Rickmansworth, with Kier Construction with completion of the former in August and the latter in December 2019.
In June we carried out the preparation of sub-bases and installation of Breedon Gravel Surfaces to enable wheelchair access at the Sufra Community Garden, NW10, on behalf of Sisk Construction.
We have successfully completed the second phase of tree planting along Olympic Way, The Avenue of Champions, at Wembley Park – 8 pairs of trees at 70cm girth supplied by Van den Berk, Lorberg & Lorenz von Ehren Nurseries. These 16 trees compliment the 20 planted in 2018 with the final phase (Zone C) to be installed in 2020.
In addition to the above we have also secured four other Contracts at Wembley Park which include installing semi-mature trees outside the Premier Inn and Olympic Steps, South West lands Phase 2, E04 Canada Court & E03 Public Realm. These projects start in August 2019 with the final Phases due in late summer 2020. We will be installing over 3,000m3 of substrates, planting over 240no semi-mature trees and 24,000 shrubs, grass areas measure approx. 6,400m2 and aftercare too.
After a challenging hot and dry summer all staff are now gearing up for a large number of exciting new projects to be completed to tight programmes.
We are pleased to announce that we have won awards for both our entries; Lillie Square and Olympic Way in the Soft Landscaping Construction (Non-Domestic) cost under £300k category. We look forward to the awards ceremony on the 7th December!
Farewell & good luck to Mike Johnson who has been with the company for over 30 years. Mike was our senior maintenance manager for a number of years and significant in the establishment and development of our maintenance division.
Farewell to Sue who has retired having been an important part of the Goddards team for the last 30 years, most recently overseeing Payroll & HR.
